京町家の「うなぎの寝床」を現代の暮らしとして設計した住宅。道路から駐車場、大型バイクのための土間、中庭に面した9畳の表座敷、奥庭に面した６畳の奥座敷まで空間は続いていく。通り庭のように奥に抜ける空間では、中庭や奥庭から光や風を取り込むことができる。庭の配置と外壁の凹凸で囲いを造り、住宅地でありながらも開放的な生活の場を創り出している。

This house is a modern version of kyoto’s townhouse”Unagi no nedoko (Eel’s bed)”. The space is connected from the road to the parking lot, the concrete floor for large bikes, the 9 tatami Japanese style room facing the courtyard, and the 6 tatami Japanese style room facing the backyard. In the space that goes into the back like a Tori-niwa(passage garden), you can take in light and wind from the courtyard and backyard.
