今年度から京都市内の新しいアトリエに移転しました。
このアトリエは昨年の夏から私とスタッフで全ての仕上工事を実施し、
設計業務の傍ら、床はレンガを敷き、壁と天井は土を練って塗り、
木材を加工して家具を自分たちで施工してきました。
職人さんのように上手に施工できなくても、
建築家が素材を知り、実際に触れ、最低限施工できる術を心得ていること、
設計アトリエがかつてのAtelier（工房）のようにものをつくり、手を動かして思考することの必然性を感じました。
そして、自ら描いた図面を施工したことで、つくり手の視点を改めて考えることができました。
10年目に「Hankai Architects」と名称変更し、ようやく拠点となるアトリエがひとまず完成しました。
どこにでもあった「土」で空間を創造した「土のアトリエ」です。

[Atelier relocation]
This year, we moved to a new studio in Kyoto City. Since last summer, I and my staff have been carrying out all the finishing work for this studio. In addition to the design work, we laid bricks on the floor, kneaded and painted the walls and ceilings with soil, processed the wood and constructed the furniture ourselves. Even if we cannot construct as skillfully as craftsmen, architects know the materials, actually touch them, and have the minimum skills to construct them. I felt the necessity of a design studio to create things and think with its hands, just like the Atelier (workshop) of the past. And by constructing the drawings I drew myself, I was able to reconsider the perspective of the creator.
In our 10th year, we changed the name to "Hankai Architects" and finally completed our base studio.
This is the "Earthen Atelier" where we created space with the ubiquitous "earth".
